Morgans Eportfolio

Hello, My name is Morgan MacDonald. I go to a stem program called Adventure at Herman Intermidiate school. This is my first year in this program and it has been very enjoyable. You may be wondering, what is stem? Stem means Science, technology, engeniering and mathamatics. This school serves kids grades 5-8 and acts as a middle school.

We are located on the campus of a middle school but seperated from the Herman kids. We interact with them in PE if you are a 7th or 8th grader because we share our PE class with them. We also can interact with them at break or lunch if you are in 7th or 8th. I think this is cool because we are able to make friends from both sides of the school and talk about the different things that happen at our school.

We have 6 classes a day just like a middle school, but unlike other schools Adventure is technology based. Every period that we learn in we use computers, except for PE. We use these computers for everyday work in class, like projects. This is my first year so it took a little time to get used to all the technology, but the teachers are very helpful with teaching you how to understand all the technology and how to use it.

We work on mostly projects in adventure that challenge us to be our best. They are always based on the topic that we studied in class before. We are usually put into groups because that is one of the things that adventure is all about, working in groups. The group work can be sometimes difficult or enjoyable, that is based on how well you collaborate with your group. The projects are always interesting because they are usually made on a webtool; like making a website, timeline, slide show and others.

What does it mean to be an Adventure student? I think that this can relate to many things. My idea is that, being an Adventure student means that we learn a special way that is different from other schools, so that it can benefit us in the future. This portfolio will show you many of the different projects me and my classmates have done.
